LOVELESS DYNAMICS
[style=font-size:8px;]This is a brief refresher course that may help clear up confusion or questions. Also a guide for members who may be a little unfamiliar with the series. It's highly recommended that you read the manga or watch the anime.
A sacrifice and a fighter is needed to make a complete unit. The sacrifice and fighter usually share a true name, which is also the name of their unit. In some cases, but not all, they have their name or a similar symbol located somewhere on their body. Units are expected to remain together, as the breaking of a unit or separation of a pair results in loss of power and it is generally frowned upon for one half to leave their other willingly. Sacrifices or fighters that have loss their other half due to a death or some other circumstance are never able to be a part of a true pairing again. They may take on a blank sacrifice or fighter, though the bond is never as strong. Together, units partake in spell battles, working together (or against each other in some cases) to subdue the rivaling unit.
SACRIFICES
Sacrifices do not battle offensively. Their job is to coach the fighter and take any damage that the opposing fighter dishes out. It is important that a sacrifice is able to endure pain, as it is their job to remain standing while the opposite unit attempts to restrain them. Once a sacrifice is fully restrained or can no longer withstand damage, the battle is ended and the other pair wins. Their main focus is to guide their fighter as they attack. The stronger the bond between a sacrifice and fighter (no matter if it be love or hate), the better the chance that attacks may be deflected or not as painful.
• A blank sacrifice is a sacrifice that does not have a true name or destined other half. They are able to pair up with any fighter, regardless of their name. The only downfall to pairing with a blank is that there is no connection between the two. Therefore, spells and defenses are weakened.
FIGHTERS
It is the fighter's job to dish out attacks in spell battles. By using spells, they aim to restrain and harm the opposing unit's sacrifice while guarding their own. The stronger the connection between the fighter and sacrifice, the stronger their casted spells are. Without a proper bond, attacks may sometimes affect both the fighter and sacrifice. A fighter can battle on their own, though their attacks and defense are extremely weakened, as they also take on role of the sacrifice as well, meaning that they are also being physically harmed. It's very frowned upon for a fighter to battle without their sacrifice.

ZEROS
Zeros were created courtesy of Voice Corp while they were in the process of testing bonds between fighters and sacrifices. Zeros work the same way as normal units with a sacrifice and fighter, though they all share the same name, making them interchangeable with one another. Usually, a zero has a partner who they prefer to be with over others. The only difference with zeros are that they were possible due to experimentation. Their nerves are ultimately rendered useless and they cannot experience touch, change in temperature, or pain. In extreme temperatures, their bodies cannot adjust and when injured, it's difficult for them to tell what is fatal and what is not.
• Zeros were previously created from orphans on the island, homeless people who were promised homes and even members of society who had simply volunteered themselves after losing their half or just had nowhere else to go. Voice Corp has only recently stopped the Zero Project.[/style][/style][/style][/style]
