close dysfunctional friends sounds awesome to me  especially since they're roomies too. and third years. and yeah, brae would have stuck with memphis the moment that they met as firsties.
i can imagine these two and jace being real close buddies, chillin' out of class and memphis and brae goofing around with each other whilst they learned about spell battles and their role as fighters. then the awkwardness between jace and brae happened and totally shattered their cozy friendship circle. and it's probably that cold resentment of brae's toward jace that causes a lot of conflict between memphis and brae.
brae's possessive of his friends so at first he would have clung to memphis and been a total troll to jace about it. but he's grown a little distant toward memphis since then, believing that jace and him are a little closer what with the two of them being on the student council together - which brae, as the disciplinary committee president totally does his best to make things uncomfortable for jace. i can see memphis acting as a sort of mediator between the two of them, and keeping the two groups from tearing each other's throats out ^^
brae isn't happy with how friendly memphis is to jace after she "ripped his hear out", so when these two clash the words that leave brae's lips won't be pleasant. however, he'll quickly whip up something delicious and give it to memphis as a means to apologize and then act as if neither of them had even lost their tempers with each other in the first place. he'll also make sure that nobody picks on memphis too much, whilst encouraging him to "stop being such a pushover and grow a backbone."

He totally would feel some sympathy because they're both blanks! Although he doesn't know how Memphis feels about it. Maybe they could speak about their worries about how it should be if someone finally claimed them as a fighter/sacrifice?

The blind boy would just agree, although he isn't sure if he truly thinks the same. He would feel worried about his state as a blank, but maybe more afraid that someone would write a name on him that he doesn't want. He'd be fearful of anything sharp or ink-like near to him if he isn't wielding it himself. Hahahah.
Oh yes, that sounds excellent! :> Akimoto loves teaching people that he's indeed normal, even without vision. I can totally see that happen now x'DDD Those awkward questions about his eyes and he going "I'm blind." and then the usual "ohmygawd!Really?!" xDDD *fantasy running away with Grim's mind* Ahem, yeah.
Certainly :> Aki would love to do nothing more than to do that! He would feel more accepted and not feel too weird because he's blind xD Although without a doubt he still would feel awkward and ask if he may touch their faces at times, just to memorize them and make sure that it isn't just a dream that his mind conjures up to tease him. Oh yes, *also obviously seems some drama in this* 8'DDD
